El Rey is a media brand to offer a wide range of iconic feature films and TV series, including genre, cult classics, action, and horror/sci-fi. It was founded by Robert Rodriquez on December 15, 2013, to operate as a television network through cables. El Rey network has approximately 40 million households as of 2015, but it began to fall after Univision pulled out the channel. Its carriage had fallen to 13 million households in the network’s last month. So Roku and Robert Rodriguez partnered and launched a dedicated streaming channel on August 17, 2021. Roku is the first-ever streaming home for the El Rey Network.
