Since Roku is a paradise of thousands of streaming platforms, the internet is essential for accessing them. You can connect Roku to the internet using an ethernet cable or WIFI. Most users prefer WIFI over a wired connection. If you are one of them and looking for ways to connect your Roku device to WIFI, follow the steps below to do it with or without the remote.
How to Connect Roku TV to WIFI With Remote
Using the remote is the most straightforward way to bind your Roku to WIFI. However, separate methods are involved for connecting Roku to WIFI for the first time and reconnecting. So, we have given the methodology for both below.
Connect Roku to WIFI for the First time
1. Turn on and set up your Roku device.
2. Next, follow the on-screen prompts, and you will see the Network screen.
3. On the Network screen, select Set up connection and click the Wireless option.
4. Choose your WIFI network. Then, you need to enter your WIFI network’s name and password. If you don’t see your network, tap Scan again to see all networks.
5. Next, select the Connect button. You can see your Roku device connected to the internet.
Reconnect Roku to WIFI Network
If you want to change the WIFI network connected to Roku, or if your Roku got disconnected from WIFI, you can refer to the steps below to reconnect to the WIFI network.
1. From the Roku home screen, select Settings.
2. Select the Network option and Set Up Connection from the left pane.
3. Select the Wireless option and choose your WIFI network from the list.
4. Provide your network credentials and hit the Connect button to establish the connection.
Connect Roku to WIFI Without Remote
Even if your Roku remote is not working, you can connect to a WIFI network. However, this process only works when your Roku device was previously connected to your mobile Hotspot. Turn on Hotspot on your smartphone, and your Roku device will automatically connect to it. It is not recommended for long-term use. So, you can use this technique to connect the Roku mobile app to the TV. By doing so, you can use the virtual remote on the app to operate your Roku TV and connect it to WIFI without using the remote.
If you have not used the Roku app, you can install it on your smartphone from the Google Play Store or App Store.
