If you are going to sell your Roku TV to someone, you must sign out of your Roku account for your safety. Luckily, there are many ways to sign out. You can either unlink your device by visiting the Roku website or factory reset your Roku TV to erase everything. This article explains how to sign out of your Roku account on TV and streaming devices.
How to Sign Out of Roku Account on TV or Streaming Stick
Rather than signing out, this is like unlinking your Roku device from the account. Doing so will bring the Roku device to its initial settings.
Unlink Roku Device from Roku Account
1. From your computer or smartphone web browser, go to the Roku Website [my.roku.com].
2. Sign in to your device’s account that you want to unlink.
3. Now scroll down to the My Account page.
4. Select the device you want to remove from the My linked devices list.
5. Click Unlink and confirm the prompt.
Your account will be unlinked from your device. Now, if you turn on your Roku device, you will be prompted to sign in with a new account
Factory Reset Roku Device
You can factory reset the Roku to bring your device to its shipping state. This will not only sign out the device of your account but also erase all the contents, your setting preferences, all downloaded applications, etc.
1. Go to the home screen on your Roku TV and click Settings.
2. Select System and then choose Advanced System Settings.
3. Choose Factory Reset. Enter the code to reset everything and click OK.
Alternate Way to Reset Roku TV
If your Roku Smart TV has a reset button, you can reset the Roku TV without a remote. Locate the Reset pinhole button on the TV’s backside. Grab a ballpoint pen and press the Reset button. Then, hold it for 20 seconds until the LED blinks on the TV. It will reset the Roku TV to its factory settings. Once done, it will restart the Roku TV automatically.
How to Deactivate a Roku Account
If you aren’t using a Roku account, you can deactivate it by following these steps.
1. Open any web browser and visit the Roku official website (my.roku.com).
2. Enter your login credentials to log in to your account.
3. Next, click on the My Account icon from the upper right corner.
4. Select the Deactivate Account option from the Manage Account section.
5. Click the OK button to confirm your selection.
6. Finally, your Roku account will be deactivated.
This is how you can sign out of your Roku account. It is mandatory before giving your Roku device to others. Roku devices don’t support multiple account logins, so you must log out of the current account to sign in to the new Roku account.
