Methods to Fix Roku No Sound Issue

Solution 1: Inspect the HDMI Connection on your Roku

The main reason why Roku faces no sound issues can be due to the HDMI connection. This issue can be fixed easily by switching the input or by switching the cable of your device.

Swap HDMI Port

HDMI is a two-way digital connection that deals with both audio and video. Sometimes the audio connection may go wrong, plug out the connection and connect it to a different port. Doing this might solve the issue at times.

Change your HDMI Cable

While facing this problem, you must check that the cable is in good condition without any physical damage. If your HDMI cable is damaged, that can also be why the audio is not working. To fix this issue, you must replace the current cable and plug in the new HDMI cable. Once the process gets over, check whether the issue has been fixed.

Solution 2: Check the Roku’s Audio Settings

Selecting the wrong output channel can also be a reason for this issue; follow the below steps.

Connect Roku to the A/V Receiver or Soundbar Via an Optical Cable

1. On your Roku remote, press the Home button.

2. Go to the Settings menu on your Roku device.

3. From the menu, select the Audio menu option.

4. Now, set the HDMI and P/DIF options to Dolby D.

Connect Roku to an A/V Receiver, Soundbar, or TV Via an HDMI Cable

1. Click on the Home button on your Roku remote.

2. Then, move to the Settings menu.

3. Select the Audio Menu under the list.

4. Choose the Audio Mode to stereo.

5. Select the HDMI port to PCM – Stereo, and see if the issue is fixed.

Solution 3: Power cycle the Roku Device

Power cycle on the Roku device will help you to fix the issues on Roku. Here is how to do it,

1. Turn off your device and unplug all the power connections from your Roku device

2. Wait for a few minutes, and plug the connection back correctly.

3. Now, turn on the Roku device and check whether the issue has been fixed.

Solution 4: Update your Roku

Updating your Roku may also help you to fix this kind of issue; follow the below steps to update your device.

1. From the Roku home screen, select the Settings option.

2. Select the System option, and click the OK button.

3. Then, scroll down and choose for System Update option.

4. From the bottom of the screen, check for the latest update on the screen.

5. Click on the Update option if your system has not been updated.

Solution 5: Factory Reset your Device

If the issue on the Roku has not been fixed, you can also follow the steps to factory reset your Roku device.

1. Move to the Settings tab from the home screen.

2. Select the System option, and press the Ok button.

3. Then, scroll down and choose the Advance system setting option.

4. Navigate to the Reset option from the menu list.

5. Now, enter the four-digit code on the Roku device.

6. By doing so, your device will return to the factory’s original settings, removing all the internal glitches.

Solution 6: Sync up your Audio and Video

1. On your Roku remote, click the Home button and go to the home screen.

2. Select the Settings option from the menu.

3. Click on the System option, and move to the Advance System Setting tab.

4. Find the Auto-Adjust Display Refresh Rate option.

5. Select it and disable this option.

This process can also fix audio-related issues. However, kindly switch to the auto-adjust option if this causes any issues in video playback.

Solution 7: Fix Distorted Audio on Roku

Distorted audio is a known issue reported by Roku users; this is usually found in Roku ultra but can also occur on another model.

1. Start playing any video you want.

2. Press the Asterisk (*) button on the Roku remote.

3. Then, scroll and find the Volume Mode.

4. Now, toggle the switch to Off, and check if the no audio issue is fixed.
